The Royale Belge is one of the first modern buildings constructed in Belgium. This massive building was designed an office complex, however today it is abandoned. This project proposes to give a new life to the building with a new program, taing advantage of the ideal location where usage is a mix of housing, offices and a cultural center that are distributed throughout the existing space.
The original building has a monumental image that represents a compagny (Axa), it is not well oriented in relation to the sun and has no terraces exept for the last floor. This configuration is not ideal for housing the new proposal revolves on the idea of creating a new image more adequate to the change in function. A system of terraces and double heights create a more interesting space for the residents while transforming the facade to show the difference in the interrior program.
